Laughter

Daily Thoughts, From Daily Guideposts, February 24, 2010

A Time to Think
The most wasted of all days is one without laughter. - E. E. Cummings

To Act
Find an opportunity for laughter whenever you can.

To Pray
Lord, when I'm weary and need refreshment, renew me with friendship and laughter.

Laughter is healing, laughter is upliftment, and laughter is surely fun. And, I clearly do not have enough of it in my life.

Last night I got the unexpected news that a dear friend of ours (and Bill W.’s) from Tucson, will be coming up to Sedona to visit today. I’m excited. For although a major part of his multi-day trip is to be in the Silence to contemplate and meditate about a recent disturbing event in his life, I know that we will laugh. For laughter and joy, along with spiritual and business conversation, has always been a part of our coming together. I suspect that shall be the case this time as well.

And, this time laughter will help bring healing, love, and faith to our friend who is in need of an extra dose of feeling God’s Presence. It will do the same for me as well.

Home

Rog and I have been on the road quite a bit these last several months, mainly up north exploring our future home area. We’ve been guests at various friends’ homes for which I am most grateful for their kindness, hospitality, and comfortable digs.

Still, sometimes in the middle of the night or in the wee hours of the morning, I wake up and find myself a bit unsettled and missing our home in Gilbert, where I’ve resided for the past 6+ years.

To get out of this ego state of fear and apprehension, I’ll pray, meditate, and/or read spiritual literature. Before not too long, I’m feeling at peace and connected to Spirit.

I know that home is where my heart is and God resides in my heart. No matter where I might be physically, Spirit is with me always and I am always Home.

Success

I read this prayer from Daily Guideposts and it gave me food for thought: “Lord, the greatest success I can achieve is to know You and to love You, and help others know and love You too.”

This definition resonates with me and actually shapes my daily life, for each day as I meditate, interact with others, pray, etc., I endeavor to know God more and more.

And while I have no intention to stop following this path, in a way, something else is far more noteworthy to me.

For you see, I feel that the greatest accomplishment of this lifetime has already occurred: coming to believe after having been a devout atheist for nineteen years.

If I were to accomplish nothing further in my life, having awakened to God Consciousness takes the cake - the rest is icing.

Of course, having come to believe was just the beginning. The story and my path continue as I experience ever greater communion with God and my fellows, loving God and helping others love God too.

Whose Will?

Today I’ve really been thinking about this business of doing God’s will. Ya know, “Thy Will, not mine, be done.” I wonder how much I really believe in that principle and how much I put it into action.

I have been given free will to live my life, to make choices, and the ‘proper’ use of it is to align it with what Spirit would have me do. But when my ego gets in the way, fugetaboutit! Does that mean every time my ego is going, I’m not doing God’s will?

I figure that if I’m doing God’s Will, it doesn’t really matter what is going on in my life. It’s just that simple. And, then I’m in a perpetual state of joy. Sounds good to me. Although somehow it doesn’t seem that easy... I cannot say that I feel joy most of the time, let alone perpetually. [Have you seen this world lately?] Hence, I’m out of alignment with Spirit.

For now, I’ll meditate on it, pray, and contemplate it. This is a huge issue with far reaching ramifications in my life, and definitely worth attention.

To be continued...

The Cave

I am grateful for my own home office. Having been single for many years and having enjoyed my alone space for the most part, times in my office are cherished. It makes no-never-mind that the other person I now live with is my beloved twin flame and husband, Rog. I like – and need – the time and the space alone in my room.

Like the Beach Boys' lyrics from their 1970’s(?) song “In My Room”, it is a whole other world when the door is closed.

Usually every morning at the crack of dawn I go there to pray and meditate, read inspirational literature, journal - to be alone in the silence. There I receive renewal and refreshment. There I find it a bit easier to connect to Spirit.

I know that Spirit is with me always, whether in a stadium, crowded cafĂ©, or... in my room. Still, since I’m into 'cozy', I’ll take my cave.

Unique Meditation

I sat in the silence this morning once again breathing in faith and breathing out peace.

When Rog and I met up for our second embrace of the day, our lips rested on one another’s and lingered. That’s when I got the idea that I could continue my mantra. So with each breath in and each breath out, I silently said “faith” then “peace” as our lips continued to cling. In the embrace of Rog and God, I was surrounded by love and at peace.

There are many ways to meditate and connect with Spirit. I smile as I think of this particularly creative one and know that wherever I am, God is, and all is well.
