I took the entire day off to play with friends visiting from Tucson, a luxury for me. And, it also threw my schedule off. So here it is close to 10 o’clock in the evening, and I’m working on finding a topic to blog about.
When I’m not initially inspired as to what to write about, I have the practice of reading the various daily, weekly, and monthly spiritual messages I subscribe to via email. And since I don’t keep up with them sufficiently, there is always a backlog to read. I always enjoy reading them and find myself feeling closer to God when doing so.
So after a rich day of friendship and a meeting for volunteer work, I find myself a bit spent and not knowing what to blog about. But there’s my cadre of emails sitting in my Inbox with plenty of inspiration and words of wisdom contained therein.
Today’s Daily Word is Comfort: “I am comforted by the love and presence of God.” And, the Daily Guideposts story is about the author’s awareness being raised and thereby stops being indifferent to people and starts praying for them. Another reminds me “...that he does not believe who does not live according to his belief.” Abraham says “Look for good things about where you are, and in your state of appreciation, you lift all self-imposed limitations (and all limitations are self-imposed) and you free yourself for the receiving of wonderful things.”
So while I may not always feel inspired to blog, my commitment to blog daily always gives me an extra boost of connection with Spirit. Today it took the form of taking a break from my own writing (sort of) to read about others’ journey with God and His Ways. And that is always inspiring.
Good night.

Powder Room Prayer
Sitting in the bathroom, I started praying for God to remove all the toxins from my body. Then I realized, what about the other toxins that reside in me, not just of the physical nature?...
Dear Spirit-
Please remove all toxins from my physical body. Please remove all toxic thoughts and emotions. Cleanse and purify all within me that is harmful and poisonous to my Self and others. Refresh and renew me so that I can be of optimal service to You. Thank You, thank You, thank You. And, so it is.

Meaning
Today’s Daily Word - Saturday, January 23, 2010
Meaning
In God, I find spiritual meaning in everyday life.
Many tasks in daily life may seem mundane or even irritating, so I look for a deeper spiritual significance in each one.
When I'm standing in line at a grocery store, running errands or waiting for a computer program to load, I look for the blessing in it. I may find myself giving thanks to God. I may have the opportunity to connect with another person. My attitude may transform an ordinary experience into a rich and rewarding blessing.
I affirm "Thank You, God," anytime I find myself waiting. These delays turn downtime into an experience of awareness and meaning.
The human mind may devise many plans, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established. - Proverbs 19:21
______________________
I strive to find spiritual meaning in everyday life not just because tasks may seem mundane or I’m bored.
Any time that I can find spiritual meaning or blessing in some task or situation, I am connecting more directly with God, strengthening my relationship. Hence, when I’m in the shower, driving, washing dishes, etc., I can often be found praying in some form either singing, talking aloud, or silently.
In any form, in any way, whatever I am engaged in, especially when I am alone, I take the opportunity to commune with Spirit. There I find peace, there I find meaning in my life.

Praying Without Ceasing
What does “praying without ceasing” really mean? Can I really pray all the time? If I pray 24/7, what else would there be in life, what else would I get done?
I think “praying without ceasing” is like the idea of always looking unto Thee. I do it the best I can, as often as I can, in as many places as I can.
For me, the practice of praying and looking unto Thee, shows up in various forms including: singing, meditating, helping others, staying conscious, and evolving spiritually for its own sake.
Dear Spirit;
Help me to pray and look unto Thee without ceasing, and thus always feel connected to You, my one and only Source.

Love for God
I’ve often wondered whether I love God, especially after hearing others passionately proclaim their love for their Higher Power. And, if I don’t love God, where does that place me, in God’s ‘eyes’ and in my own?
Well, last night I was reading from Emmet Fox’s book Power Through Constructive Thinking, getting my heart and mind tuned up to Spirit. I was heartened when I came across these words in Fox’s essay The Secret Place:
“...your love for God is not an emotion. It has really nothing to do with the feelings at all. We demonstrate and prove our love for God by praying, and by refusing to recognize error as having any power over us; by declining, out of loyalty to God, to accept anything less than the perfect harmony which is His Will.”
I don’t always refuse to recognize error as having any power over me and certainly there are times when I accept less than perfect harmony in my life. But I sure do pray. I pray a lot throughout the day, as much as I can in between the spaces of activity and oftimes during the busyness.
My intention is to connect with Spirit every millisecond that I can and to evolve spiritually. In this, I show my love for God.

Motivation Versus Inspiration
“Inspiration comes forth from within. It's what the light burning within you is about, as opposed to motivation, which is doing it because if you don't do it, there will be negative repercussions. Motivation is making myself do something that I don't really want to do. Inspiration is having the clear picture of what I am wanting -- and letting Universal forces come into play to get the outcome.”
- Abraham (Excerpt from 07/07/99 Spokane, WA workshop)
Hmmm. I’m thinking of some personal examples and, of course, all this admin work I’ve been doing clearly fits. I’m motivated to do this work solely because if I don’t, living in this culture will be a lot more difficult. However, I look forward to this particular work being done, for in the long run, I expect to be able to spend more time on being creative, to be inspired.
The origin of the word inspiration comes from the Latin words in and spirare (breathe), or in other words, to breathe into. I relate this to Spirit (God) breathing into me, in fact, starting with God breathing life into me. My breath is an ever present reminder of God being in me and with me always. And, it shows up in me as a creative being, expressing God always. Art, music, writing, speaking, helping, praying, and on and on it goes. God in me always. Being.
Motivation or inspiration? I’ll take inspiration any time I can!

Last Night
Last night I attended the healing service at The Little Chapel (as mentioned in yesterday’s blog). I, in fact, did receive a healing, as everyone always does whether they’re aware of it or not.
Mine wasn’t a physical one, but rather a spiritual and emotional one. The way I know I was healed is that while at the service, I empathized with others’ pain – their pain was my pain, and I cried tears for them. I was so in the Now, so wholeheartedly praying for them. When I’m in that state, I know my heart has been opened wider, that I’m feeling closer to Source and more loving of my brothers and sisters. We are truly One.
Each time my heart opens wider and wider, my capacity to love grows too. It brings me to a stronger feeling of connection to all in this Universe, and this, fills me with gratitude.

How Do I Love?
Yesterday’s blog was entitled “Love in Action” and talked of loving everyone on my path. So how does that show up, especially with people who I find to be a challenge?
I was with someone yesterday who is bright, most generous, and has other fine qualities - and pushes my “irritation” button. Now, I know it’s really about me. But that said, how do I show up as Love even when my ego wants to fight? The words “attitude” and “act as if” come to mind.
I hold an attitude of gratitude and I act in loving ways. That translates to offering to be helpful, being a good listener...and, praying. Lots of praying! Praying for me to be loving, praying for the person’s highest good, praying for God’s help.
I cannot go through this human experience without God’s help. This is a crazy world, and I can be as insane as the next person at times. If I am to be at peace, I must love. God is the answer and the help I need to act as Love would.

Greeting Cards and Spirit
Finally, I am spending some time with Spirit now after a challenging day. I didn’t spend a lot of time alone with Spirit this morning, and I haven’t taken much additional time until now, except for a little bit of praying here and there.
Writing Valentine’s Day greetings this evening was a somewhat unique way to connect with Spirit, one that I appreciate. [That’s another method to add to the list I jotted down a number of weeks ago...]
With the celebration of love and friendship, for me Valentine’s Day is kind of like Thanksgiving and Christmas and Disneyland: I just have to smile and be filled with joy and gratitude!
It is one of those concentrated times when I reflect upon the people who are dear to me and then express how I feel directly to them. It sure is sweet.
And, tonight it was an extra special time since doing so got me back to focusing on the many blessings in my life – and, subsequently, Spirit.

Channels to God
“...to put aside our own desires,... to offer someone a helping hand. In this... we find happiness. And we find God. For in helping others, we open a channel to Divine guidance.” - In God’s Care, January 30
How many channels to God are there? – Let me count the ways:
- Helping others
- Praying
- Meditating
- Blessing others
- Singing
- Composing
- Playing a musical instrument
- Painting
- Sculpting
- Writing
- Laughing
- Inspiring others
- Hugging
- Loving
- Caring
...the list goes on and on.
How many channels to God are there? I am limited only by my imagination, by myself. For God is in me, through me, around me, and everything is a channel to God when I so choose.

Praying and Peace
Today was such a wonderful day! Actually, the past several days have been pretty nifty I’ve noticed.
Today included coffee time with Rog (aka spiritual conversation and nourishment), an uplifting Unity service, singing, connecting via email, an hour long call with a dear friend in which we made plans for her to visit next month (yippee!), fun eBay auctions ending with some monies earned, etc. A full, busy, and rich day – and, I’m feeling the joy.
I think I’ve been having these types of days more and more frequently in recent times because I’m feeling more and more at peace. I’m connecting with Spirit more, staying in the present moment where I hold onto to faith and trust. And, in different ways throughout the day, I’m praying.
A reading this morning talked about making your life a living prayer by praying all the time. I’ve heard this before and I love it! As a living prayer I’m always mindful of God, growing closer and closer to Him. This enables me to focus on all that is good and the best within me, to give with a full and thankful heart, and to be at peace. It doesn’t take much, and the journey as well as the destination is fulfilling.
Dear God - I pray to be a living prayer throughout my waking hours and to go to sleep with a prayer of thanksgiving on my lips, and peace in my heart.
