Attitude

“What we say about a situation determines how we think about it and finally what we do about it. Attitude largely determines activity; so watch your attitude and make it one of faith. By practicing positive attitudes, you will experience a renewed trust in God and find creative solutions to your problems.” - Our Prayer.org

I’ve been paying greater and greater attention to the impact of the separated, limited, little Me on my joy, my life. Its thinking can easily push me into fear, not feeling capable enough, contracted.

And yesterday I started paying greater attention to the unlimited Me. It’s the Me that is formless - my spirit, my true essence. So when I caught my attitude starting to drift towards negativity, I paused, said hello to God, and consciously moved back into the energy field of Spirit. With a shift in attitude, my actions shifted as well, and I proceeded on with the day in a more positive manner.

We all know what the shift of attitude towards God, trust, and faith feels like: power, joy, love, mercy, grace, and peace. The little Me cannot bring me to that place. Only the whole Me, the Oneness, God.

Who I Am

I’m aware that more and more I am exercising my right to choose, to change my mind, to be and act more consciously from a higher ground. I’m stepping more and more into who I truly am.

Recently, some requirements of the volunteer work I was thinking of doing came to light and I found myself having a charge around them. After a bit of soul searching, I realized that, while the organization was doing meaningful, wonderful work for its clients, I could not be a part of it because of some philosophical differences.

Now I’d have to tell the volunteer coordinator. Oh. I’d have to stick to my truth, be diplomatic, and not feel like I’d killed someone because I’d changed my mind - even though I’d not even filled out an application yet!

When this person returned my phone call, I took a deep breath, said a very quick prayer, and took the call. I was diplomatic, focused, and complimentary. I blamed no one and offered encouragement. I stood in my truth, confident with God.

There are other places where I can serve and not have to sacrifice my integrity. I’m sticking with those. I’m standing my ground, open to God’s will for me.

It feels good to say “no” in whatever form it may take, instead of trying to people please and hurting everyone in the process anyway. With Spirit an integral part of me, I can be and act - and serve- as the holy child of God I truly am.

All I Have to Say Is...

... Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, God!

I am so grateful. No, it’s not Gratitude Circle morning - that’s tomorrow - , but I sure am feeling grateful.

My gratitude stems from my soul being so very fed these recent months. So it’s not because everything is going as perfectly as I want them to in the outer world; it’s because I’m taking care of the inner.

It seems that feelings of gratitude beget feelings of gratitude, a wonderful upward spiral of delightful energy and frequency. My life is so rich, perhaps not financially, but in ways far more important and meaningful to me. It is simply a matter of time that that too will flow because of doing the work and feeling and expressing gratitude.

It is also true that when I’m not feeling gratitude so naturally, consciously focusing on what I am grateful for is a way to start getting me to feel that way and lift me up. That’s when I make a mental or written gratitude list, and my heart starts to soar once again.

All comes from Spirit
All comes from Source
My heart sings sweetly
When I stay on course.

Time and Spirit

I’ve been wishing people a happy new year – and decade! Yes, we are ten years into the new millennium although I don’t quite know how that happened...

Some questions crossed my mind just a few minutes ago: “How strongly has my relationship with Spirit deepened over the last decade?” “What about the last year?” And, “What would I like my relationship with God to look like in this new year?”

This time of year is often one where one takes time to reflect back – and forward – on the direction of their life. I cannot think of a subject more important to reflect on than that of my relationship with and understanding of Spirit.

As I move into the new year, it is my great desire to spend a lot more time consciously with Spirit, strengthening my connection, hearing guidance more often and more clearly, and following it with ease and grace. It is my wish that my heart open wider for both myself and my fellows; that is where I feel the Presence.

As the old year and decade fade away and as the new increasingly draw nigh on the horizon, may I remember that Spirit is timeless - and always with me.

Intention

My intention is to walk through this day consciously. I want to BE peace, BE love, BE patience, BE joy.

It is my intention to make this day one I enjoy (in joy) and in which I am relaxed as I provide excellent service to my clients, complete my tasks, take care of me, devote time to my personal relationships.

Spirit of the Most High –
Co-create a day with me in which I do Your Will, and all flows with ease and grace in perfect Divine Order. Fill me with gratitude at every turn. Thank You. So it is.

Out of Dodge

Today is six years that I ‘got out of Dodge.’ Translated that means that I left Santa Fe, New Mexico and moved to the Phoenix Metro area of Arizona. That’s the short story.

The longer version goes like this (there’s also the longest version!). After 7+ years of living in NM and tired of hearing myself complain about not liking living there, I made a significant spiritual shift. Up until that time I had been telling myself the story that I couldn’t make another move because (1) I didn’t have the financial means to do so, and (2) I didn’t want to keep moving around until I found the perfect place. The point is, I was trying to do it all by my lonesome. Finally, I woke up and remembered to ask God for help. Duh. Then I was no longer alone (as if I’d ever really been) and I had the power of God consciously behind me.

And, ask God for help I did. My side of the conversation went like this:

“God, I really need Your help to get out of here. I’ll do anything that is required – even get a job! You know that I’ve said I’d never work for someone else again after being in my own business. Yes, I’ll do even that as I sooo want and need to get out of here. But, YOU have to handle the money!” A bit pushy, huh? But, I was clear, and I was open and willing.

And, I did do everything I could, trusting along the way that God would come through on His end. He did, in a way I could never have imagined (via my dad coming back into my life). It was a wonderful lesson contrasting how my life is when I don’t ask for God’s help and when I do.

Perhaps I wouldn’t have had to stay in ‘Dodge’ for as long as I did if I’d remembered my Source sooner – I don’t know. But there is no question in my mind that when I was ready to ask for help, God was there immediately to listen and help (He’d never left). Fresh from that experience, I said I never wanted to forget that powerful lesson ever, and that’s pretty much been the case.

Now six years have passed living in a place I’ve enjoyed and another move is under way, initiated by the Universe but one I’m looking forward to. I’m glad to have that experience in my memory bank and heart. This move seems even more impossible to work out than that last one. But I know whose team I’m a part of and who is my Source and Helper. As long as I seek God’s guidance, remain open, and willing, I’m confident that God will come through again in such a large matter.

Oh yeah - I didn’t have to go get a job. Spirit arranged it financially that I could continue with my own business when I moved from the Land of Enchantment to the Valley of the Sun!

My Work of Art

"In a sense, as we are creative beings, our lives become our work of art." – The Artist’s Way (by Julia Cameron, page xvi)

Hmmm. Yes, my life is a work of art. I would characterize it as a colorful work of art. I have led, excuse me – created – an interesting life over the years. Here are some highlights, meaningful, wide brush strokes with many details no doubt accompanying them on the canvas:

. Majored in philosophy and sociology in college
. Worked for a railroad
. Switched career from the transportation industry to the financial one
. Joined a 12 Step program at age 35
. Became greatly involved in volunteer work
. Left corporate world to work on graduate studies full-time
. Earned Master of Social Work degree
. Relocated from NY, my lifelong home town and city of 8 million people, to the 4,000 population southwest town of Taos, NM – solo at the age of 41
. Employed by Native Americans to help their pueblo community
. Launched my own business as The Computer Therapist, combining my geek skills with my therapeutic skills
. Met and married (first time) my twin flame – Rog – at close to 50 years of age
. My three best friends attended our wedding
. Have a dynamic partnership with my husband in our personal relationship, spiritual life, and our business.

But really, how much of my life did I consciously create? It is only since I started waking up spiritually, commencing with joining the 12 Step program, and coming to believe in God, that I feel I was creating what I wanted, no longer drifting aimlessly and without guidance.

My life – my relationships, my work – has been so much richer, so much more creative, since I started waking up and forging a relationship with Spirit. And after all, that’s no surprise since Spirit and creativity are intimately intertwined.
