As I prepare to leave for my weekly Gratitude Circle meeting, I’m beginning to think about what I’m grateful for. And, I’m thinking that these days it seems that remembering gratefulness does not seem particularly natural. That is, it seems that I really need to pause and be conscious to take the time to review the blessings in my life, that I don’t often feel that ‘on the spot’ gratitude that I have often felt.
It is helpful that I now have a weekly meeting in my schedule where the focus is on gratitude. It opens my heart to hear others express their sentiments and it jump starts my own contemplation.
Expressing gratitude is an additional way that I feel closely connected to Source. So in these days of late where my ego is often churning 24/7 and my inner peace is not as consistently present as I would like, hearing and sharing on gratitude is an extra precious gift to me. And, it seems that once I start making a gratitude list (verbal or written), it snowballs and grows to practically no end.
Dear Great Mystery-
Thank You for all Your many blessings and for the feeling of gratitude towards them and You. Both enrich my life infinitely and eternally.

All Things Are Possible
“I am very excited for you and Roger witnessing your courage and faith in the Universe bringing about what is in the higher good for the both of you. In the not too distant past I would have thought you two were crazy. Today you are my heroes - go figure!” - From an email sent by a new friend of ours.
It warms the cockles of my heart to have witnesses to what is transpiring in our life – and to be a demonstration to others, as we feel Spirit has called on us to be. In the past we too would have thought ourselves crazy! But through opening up to the Great Mystery and all the possibilities, all the power in the Universe, we are able to go through what seems to most, insanity.
It’s sometimes been scary, but I think the fact that these huge changes for us have, for the most part, happened gradually over the past year has made them easier for us to digest. Along with deeper and deeper contemplation about what is important in life and seeking God’s guidance, we are in a state of joyful expectancy and peace.
Thank You, Spirit, for the wonderful people You bring into our lives, and the wonders You perform to bring us back to You and our natural state of peace and joy.

Reconnecting
"Know that we can never be separate. You are hearing my Voice every time you think a happy thought, act with joy, and feel happiness right here and now. Practice these things daily, and your experience of our union will grow." – The Voice for Love, September 5
Well, I’m not feeling much like a happy camper now. I guess that means that I’m not hearing Spirit’s Voice right now, that I’m disconnected. I am not quite sure how I got here, although news and circumstances today have definitely affected me.
The solution? Get reconnected, of course. I’m going to spend some peaceful time reading spiritual literature and in contemplation. I’ll take a shower, always a calming and enjoyable experience for me. I think I’ll make a gratitude list, even if it’s just a mental one, and give thanks. And, above all, I will pray to Spirit to feel Its Presence, be at peace, and be full of trust and faith.
For no matter what is going on in the outer world, it is always possible to be at peace and Oneness in my inner world. I must reach out to Spirit for that peace beyond understanding.

Commitment
It’s been 246 days since I first started this blog back in November and I’ve been thinking that when I hit one year and 365 blogs, perhaps I’ll drop from daily writing to several times a week.
But then I started thinking about why I began this blog in the first place and how are those reasons holding up.
The strongest reason for starting it was to place myself in a regular daily practice of connecting to God by contemplative writing. Now, I’ve not always spent much time in contemplation before writing; sometimes I’ve written something just to meet my commitment for a daily entry. But what a gift this practice has been on those days when my other spiritual practices have gone by the wayside. No matter what, that daily commitment has been a spiritual anchor in my daily life, getting me to pause and focus on God.
Take today for instance. We got back from Tucson this afternoon, hot, dirty, and exhausted. I “threw” myself in the shower and went to bed for a nap at 230pm. Four hours later I was still napping, sleeping more blissfully than my usual night time manner, and I could have kept on sleeping. But, as I told Rog, I got up and out of bed because I needed to blog. So, after a light dinner, here I am.
In a day that held no routine at all and in which I did not make time to be in the silence, this commitment to blogging helped get me back on track. Sitting down at my laptop, glancing through some daily spiritual readings, and thinking about what I could write about my relationship to God, I feel closer to Spirit and more centered.
My original main reason for starting this blog clearly holds up. This spiritual blogging practice is a discipline that has worked well for me and continues to do so. One day at a time I’ll keep at it, remaining open to Spirit’s guidance.
And now, it’s off to dreamland once again!
