Trust

Rog and I were talking over breakfast about trust. He’s participating in a thread on LinkedIn regarding the concept about if it is possible for there to be trust in business. To me it’s an absurd notion to even think of! Still, with the way the world is going today economically, politically, etc., it is clear that there have been grave breaches of trust by people and institutions, including business, and so it is no wonder that this topic is up for discussion.

I cannot imagine any sort of relationship - be it, personal, social, romantic, ‘even’ business - that can survive, let alone flourish and be healthy without a foundation of trust.

I shudder to think what life would be like if I couldn’t make the assumption that the other party was operating from a position of honesty and trustworthiness.

Of course, us spiritual beings having a human experience can fall short of the mark which means that we can make mistakes. But if I know the other person is coming from a place of integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness, I’m most apt to be understanding and accepting.

Nonetheless, I know the ultimate trust is in only one being - God. I place my trust in Source so that regardless of the craziness of the world and people around me, I know that I am taken care of and all is well.

Success

Success has usually been talked about in terms of material wealth.

When I was in the dungeon of despair during my active binging days, material possessions could not bring me peace, love, or joy. When I came to believe in a Power greater than myself, it was even clearer to me that living a successful life could not be defined heavily in terms of the physical world.

These 19+ years later, and especially in the midst of the current economic, political, crazy times, I have no doubt of the meaning of success. A ‘successful’ day is one measured by how loving I’ve been in my interactions, how peaceful I feel within, and how connected I feel to Spirit.

The principles in the 12 Step Program include: honesty, faith, courage, integrity, willingness, humility, brotherly love, perseverance, and service. As I go about the activities of my day and when I reflect back on it when it has ended, I know it’s been a successful one when I have practiced those principles in all of my affairs to the best of my ability, acknowledging God’s Presence throughout it all.

People

“Rog is a partner like no other, someone I'd always want on my team. His integrity is impeccable, his knowledge vast, and his organizational and HR skills strong. His love of and caring for Nature is inspirational, and his joy contagious. We who share The Journey with him, no matter the length of time, are truly blessed.”

I wrote this as a recommendation of my colleague (who is also my twin flame) for LinkedIn, an interconnected network of experienced professionals from around the world. After doing so, I got to pondering how wonderful this world would be if I were able to say something similar to this about so many others.

Ya know, that they have integrity, inspire others, really care about other living beings, and are joyful. How many people do I feel truly blessed by having encountered them in this game of Life?

I’d say, “A lot.” I may not always realize they’re a blessing, but really, everything and everyone indeed is. Everyone is from God, of God, the Presence of God; hence, every one is a blessing. It’s an attitude, a choice to view people from this perspective.

Still, make no mistake: My honeybunch is the number one person who has blessed my life. Thank You, Spirit!

Experiments

Rog’s ‘dowry’ included a bread machine. He kept it idle for a while, then started using it again last fall. I finally got up the courage to learn how to use it a few months ago so I could make breads of the whole grain variety, my preference (I can be pretty picky about some foods).

I usually don’t follow a recipe after the first time. Okay, even then I tend to experiment. Nevertheless, using fine quality ingredients, the bread usually rises well, looks good, and tastes great. However, there are times when the chemistry of the combined ingredients causes my concoction to form something that looks like....well, that doesn’t quite look like a loaf of bread! However, despite its looks, it usually does taste great, which is the most important thing.

Like the bread I concocted yesterday... It never did form into a ball or rise properly. This got me thinking about me and my life.

I’ve not led the life of the average women of my generation, and I’ve not been afraid to experiment and try new ways. Also, I may not always look great and I may not respond wisely in every single situation. But the ingredients inside me are of fine quality: my caring nature, perseverance, joy, laughter, intelligence, honesty, integrity, walking the walk, etc. My ingredients are of fine quality – they are of Spirit. When all is said and done, my light shines. Just like my bread experiments – they delight one’s taste buds.

As for yesterday’s bread... Well, it didn’t rise more than ½ of what it should have, but it turned out super delicious!

Another Way

Classified Ad for Services Needed: Removal of blockages for very gifted, spiritual husband and wife team not realizing their good. Need immediate help - miracles - for financial prosperity. Prayers most welcomed!

We know other folks too are facing the spiritual challenge of trying to figure out how to live in this world without compromising their integrity - to be in this world, but not of this world.

Today we spent a chunk of time in meaningful conversation with another gifted, confused couple. The idea arose that perhaps the days of trying to live in this world as a single person, then as a couple, no longer works. So we’re going to form a sacred circle and bring our gifts together to access the power of Spirit in a grander way. We figure four is better than two which is better than one. After all, when two or more are gathered in his name...

We’re looking for another way, a way that works on this plane where we spiritual beings have to deal with daily earthly things. Here comes another exciting adventure – count me in!

Practicing What Is Preached

Today was indeed an historical day for the United States of America in many ways and an historical inauguration.

In the 8 years that have passed since the last main presidential inauguration, my spiritual experience and knowledge have progressed and been enlarged, so I was particularly curious as to how religion and prayer would play a role in this political event.

I enjoyed the prayers, feeling they were mostly inclusive of all peoples, and full of admirable qualities that we all can strive toward. Now, I hope the sentiments expressed are put into action, including by the man who gave the Inaugural Invocation, Pastor Rick Warren.

Below is the Inaugural Invocation in its entirety taken from a Christian political blog site:

Let us pray.

Almighty God, our Father, everything we see and everything we can’t see exists because of you alone. It all comes from you. It all belongs to you. It all exists for your glory.

History is your story. The Scripture tells us, “Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God. The Lord is One.” And you are the compassionate and merciful one. And you are loving to everyone you have made.

Now, today, we rejoice not only in America’s peaceful transfer of power for the 44th time. We celebrate a hingepoint of history with the inauguration of our first African American president of the United States. We are so grateful to live in this land, a land of unequaled possibility, where the son of an African immigrant can rise to the highest level of our leadership. And we know today that Dr. King and a great cloud of witnesses are shouting in heaven.

Give to our new President, Barack Obama, the wisdom to lead us with humility, the courage to lead us with integrity, the compassion to lead us with generosity. Bless and protect him, his family, Vice President Biden, the cabinet, and every one of our freely elected leaders.

Help us, O God, to remember that we are Americans, united not by race, or religion, or blood, but to our commitment to freedom and justice for all. When we focus on ourselves, when we fight each other, when we forget you, forgive us. When we presume that our greatness and our prosperity is ours alone, forgive us. When we fail to treat our fellow human beings and all the earth with the respect that they deserve, forgive us. And as we face these difficult days ahead, may we have a new birth of clarity in our aims, responsibility in our actions, humility in our approaches, and civility in our attitudes, even when we differ.

Help us to share, to serve and to seek the common good of all. May all people of goodwill today join together to work for a more just, a more healthy and a more prosperous nation and a peaceful planet. And may we never forget that one day all nations and all people will stand accountable before you. We now commit our new president and his wife, Michelle and his daughters, Malia and Sasha, into your loving care.

I humbly ask this in the name of the one who changed my life, Yeshua, Isa, Jesus [Spanish pronunciation], Jesus, who taught us to pray:

“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
