Unconditional Love

This morning is to be my first as a volunteer at the Humane Society of Sedona. I am so looking forward to hanging out with the doggies (mostly), walking them and socializing with them.

I’ve always done service work to help people: 12 Step members, nursing home residents, children in inner city schools. Hence this is a big switch, especially since I’ve not had a dog in my household since I was a child many moons ago and so consider myself inexperienced.

So what prompted this? After all, I still plan to find a service position helping humans... Well, of late I have found my heart cracked so wide open to animals, especially pooches, and a yearning to be around them and help them.

I suppose this was preceded by my immersion back into increased spiritual work on my part once we left our world in Gilbert, AZ and got started in our new life in Sedona. Since then my heart has been opening and opening as I surround myself with the love and compassion of like-minded travelers waking up to a new earth and Spirit.

God is unconditional love, always seeking to give to His children. And dogs are unconditional love too. It was not lost on me when someone pointed out years ago that the word “dog” is “God” spelled backwards. God has many emissaries.

So I’m looking forward to this novel opportunity of spending more time with God, in the form of canines, exchanging love and service, giving and receiving.

Dear Spirit

Dear Spirit;

Good morning!

Please show me other ways that I can feel Your Presence in the midst of busyness and chaos. Help me to be creative and attuned so that no matter what is going on in the physical, I feel connected to You.

Feeling Your Presence is such a comfort and joy to me, and I cherish it so. I many not always pay sufficient attention to cultivating my relationship with You, but please know that I am aware of that and yearn to spend much more time with You and to be of service to You.

With Your help and Your guidance, I know that I can feel You in the orbit that surrounds me all through the day.

Thank You for the many blessings You have given this daughter of Yours, and the ones to come henceforth. I am open to receiving, I am open to giving.

Amen.

Laughing With God

“How do you make God laugh?”
“Tell Him your plans!”

I had much to do today, but Spirit had other plans. As I was taking the butter out of the refrigerator to make some breakfast this morning, I felt a sharp pain in my lower right back. In that instance, my plans for the day, and perhaps for tomorrow, changed.

Rog helped me into bed with the hopes of relaxing my body. He brought me a client’s manuscript to read, water to drink, and a Lara bar to eat. What more could I need? Rog took good care of me, checking in periodically to see how I was feeling and if I needed anything.

With some energy work and other remedies, this physical body is healing and feeling better. I’m not sure that it’ll be in shape for a planned trip to tomorrow, one that involves loading and unloading the truck and about five hours of driving. But that’s tomorrow.

I’ve had to let go not only of my plans, but other things as well today. As an adult I’ve not been one to be sick very often or laid up in bed, out of commission. And those few times I have been, I usually handled it alone. Having Rog administering to me has been such a treat; I am grateful for his being here, his calming help, his love. A channel of God's.

Rog’s aid brought up old childhood memories of feeling like I was a burden to my mother. Before I had my tonsils and adenoids removed, I frequently got sick and the school would call home for my mom to come and pick me up. I’m giving that one up to Spirit too!

I’m sure it’s no coincidence I’ve been reading about receiving and the difficulty many people have with it. So, I’m releasing any issues about receiving, and enjoying all that Rog is giving to me.

I’m letting go of the past, being prepared for something big I feel Spirit has in mind for me with the historical world changes coming. I’m letting go of my little plans and looking to God for His. Yep, God’s going to have to find something else to laugh with me about!

I am open to receiving. I am receiving now. I am receiving all the wealth that Spirit has for me now. Thank You, thank You, thank You. And, so it is.

Being Like the Water

Hearing Barbara Horton’s song lyrics about wanting to be like the water reminded me of my own recent experience alongside Tonto Creek near Payson, AZ. Barbara’s sentiments went further, and I deeply resonate with them:

I want to be like the water flowing
Never questioning, always knowing
Exactly what it is I’m here to do.

Abundantly receiving, giving
A contribution to life along the way.

- © 2008 Barbara Horton

Especially in these days of Rog and I making big changes, releasing, dropping attachments, as we work toward creating our new life in northern Arizona, we so want to be clear what it is that God would have us do, would have us be.

I want to trust Spirit with all my heart and simply know The Plan, and not question nor resist Spirit’s will for me. When I do that, life is joyful, abundant, and I am of great service to others.

I am like the water flowing
Never questioning, always knowing
Exactly what it is I’m here to do.

Abundantly receiving, giving
A contribution to life along the way.

Love and Home

“In any given moment that you are Love, in whatever form that takes, you are Home. The more of those moments you have: being Love, extending Love, receiving Love, the more they will start to string together and become your reality and when this reality becomes your constant state, then you will really understand that you are Home.” - Patricia Williams Scalisi

Giving and Receiving

Today we received a gift check from an OA ‘family member’ from my Big Apple days to help us move forward in our life. The amount took my breath away, as did the love and generosity it reflected.

Rog said, and I of course concurred, that we look forward to when we can write such checks out again. Individually and as a couple, we’ve been able to do so in the past. We sure know how great it feels to be on both ends, as a giver and a receiver.

These days we have been holding the space open to receiving so that we can make a fresh start in our life. And, we have been manifesting God’s blessings. In the same vein, we open our hearts to give to others in whatever way we can... Right now it may not be in the form of money, but I know that the greatest power and the greatest gift is love. I can offer that always.

Bedtime Prayer

Dear Spirit;

Thank you for this day of abundance and grace. Much was accomplished in peace and joy, and with You in mind. Thank you for my many blessings – I am open to receiving all my good.

I let the day end here, to receive a restful night’s sleep, knowing I am under Your care and protection at all times.

God's Delivery

Last night I attended a service at The Little Chapel in Paradise Valley here in Arizona. Sara O’Meara and Yvonne Fedderson, the co-founders of Childhelp, officiate at this place of serenity where people of all faiths join together in worship and to receive healing.

During the healing portion of the service, Sara walked over to a woman sitting behind me, who I’ll call Janet. Sara had intuited that Janet believed that God had left her out of His healing grace. Sara stated that Janet had difficulty trusting God because of past experiences with people around the issue of trust. Sara reassured her that God had not left her out – she just needed to trust Him a bit more.

My heart resonated with what Sara was saying to Janet, and as Janet got teary-eyed, so did I. I did not grow up in a trusting environment and I can see how that could carry on into my conception of God, especially with the way things are in my life right now. I need to trust in God more, to have more faith.

The issue of physical vision came up for a number of people and it seemed that all of them were healed instantaneously. I know that my spiritual vision has been impaired, showing up in my attitude and affecting my relationships. God is The Source of all my good. I may not know what the channels of delivery are, but I must know and keep the spiritual vision that God wants me to have all the riches of His Kingdom. My job is to keep my mind and heart open to receiving and leave the ‘how’ up to Him.

Many who come to The Little Chapel are ostensibly seeking healing on the physical plane. As for me, I know I needed some spiritual cleansing and healing. And, I know that God delivered it through the channel of Sara and others who were gathered last night at TLC. I am grateful.
