My Role

“It is not your role to make others happy; it is your role to keep yourself in balance. When you pay attention to how you feel and practice self-empowering thoughts that align with who-you-really-are, you will offer an example of thriving that will be of tremendous value to those who have the benefit of observing you.

“You cannot get poor enough to help poor people thrive or sick enough to help sick people get well. You only ever uplift from your position of strength and clarity and alignment.” - Abraham, Excerpted from the book "Money and the Law of Attraction: Learning to Attract Health, Wealth and Happiness"

This reminds me of the story about the proper protocol for using oxygen masks on an airplane in the case of a decrease in cabin pressure. It is imperative that adults put their oxygen mask on first, then place masks on the children, otherwise the adults won’t be able to help and the children may be harmed anyway.

I need to take care of myself first otherwise I have little hope that I can be of service to others; I must be in fit spiritual condition.

There is always choice as to how I walk in this life. Situations are neutral; the stories I tell about them and people are of my own making. I cannot make anyone else do or be something else. It is my role to keep myself in balance and in alignment with Spirit. From there I can be an uplifting force for others.

Under the Tree

“He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.” – Anonymous

Not growing up as a Christian and being an atheist, I nevertheless was still interested in the spirit of the season. I decided as a young adult that Christmas was a time to celebrate love, joy, and friendship. It started including giving of gifts, often very much from the heart, but sometimes out of a feeling of obligation.

As I moved into a spiritual life after “coming to believe,” and my heart opened to God and people, Christmas became more and more about love and joy, now looked at as spiritual qualities. The material world of holiday shopping and gift-giving paled compared to the spiritual world’s gifts of the heart.

In these quickly and severely changing times in the world, the material has less meaning to me, and relationships are clearly more important than any item I can touch and wrap. During this holiday season - and any time really - the best gift I can give to others is my presence. That is, to be attentive, a good listener, compassionate, and uplifting. To be present in body, mind, and spirit. To come from a place of heart. This cannot be bought or found under a tree - joy and love can only be found through Spirit.

Imagination

“Worrying is using your imagination to create something you don't want.” – Abraham (excerpted from the 09.05.98 Asheville, NC workshop)

Imagination is powerful, a gift from our Creator.

May I honor Spirit by using my imagination in a positive, uplifting, helpful way for others.

Uplifting for All

I received this email over the weekend from a woman friend... a brief, uplifting prayer message that anyone can benefit from reading, man or woman.

Dear God:

The lady reading this is beautiful, classy, strong and I love her.

Help her live her life to the fullest.

Please promote her and cause her to excel above her expectations.

Help her shine in the darkest places where it is impossible to love.

Protect her at all times, lift her up when she needs you the most, and let her know when she walks with you, she will always be safe.

Love you Girl!!

Time

“I can’t believe it’s Friday again already!,” I say to Rog during our morning coffee vacation al fresco today. Two hours later, after being on the computer, I’m thinking it’s Saturday, then catch myself, remembering it’s ‘only’ Friday.

This time thing is really weird, and more so lately – as time passes.

It’s interesting though that as confusing as it can get, and as frustrated as I can be when I feel like there’s “not enough time,” or perhaps I didn’t “spend” my time as wisely as I could have, there’s a feeling that’s uplifting. That feeling often arrives when I look back at what has transpired and see that things unfolded perfectly. I then am once again reminded that God is in all of this, that God has a plan, and basically, that God is running the show.

No matter how crazy this thing called time is, when all is said and done, it matters not. All is well for God is with me past, present, and always – God is timeless. And, that’s what’s important.
