Listening

I strive to be a good listener when someone is talking to me. That entails being attentive and focused, not thinking of how I will respond or making judgments or being somewhere else. To be a good listener for someone is a loving, respectful act.

It’s also an honorable act. When I am attentive, I’m honoring that person - and God. For God sends messages and information in many ways, and through the words of humans is a prolific format.

What fun it is to be alert to God’s words when face-to-face with another human being! What an opportunity to bless one another! Who knows what I will hear from God as I serve another by fully listening with my ears, my mind, and my heart?...

Dear Spirit -
Make me a channel of clear two-way communication in the presence of others, and in the Presence of You and Your unseen helpers.

Egos

Yesterday I got irritated with someone I really love and get along tremendously with. It was the same old pattern and I was sick of it.

My peace was disturbed and I wanted it back, so I gave serious consideration around the matter and prayed for God’s guidance.

I got the idea of separating the person from the ego. So I placed the ego aside, and then I felt peace. Once again I felt the love that my own ego had tried to annihilate. Ahhh – what a wonderful feeling!

Also, I realized that whatever I was disturbed about was really about me, not the other person. The pattern was mine to claim and hence mine to change. This is the case always.

When I met with the person again, the energy was back on track to its usual peaceful, loving place. This incident was a tremendous learning for me and one I hope to remember.

Thank You, God, for Your guidance and for my willingness to listen and be open to change.

Are You Listening?

The Universe is always speaking to us using nature, intuition, and other means to get its message across. But are we listening? The sooner we pay attention to what the universe is telling us, the less we fight the river. - Science of Mind, 12.03.08

One way the Universe - or Spirit - sends me messages is through dreams. And, in the wee hours of this morning, I got some timely messages that I am prepared to take note of.

I had some powerful dreams about Santa Fe, NM. I had lived there for about 7 years until moving to AZ almost 6 years ago. While there, I was not a happy camper and found myself to not be the upbeat person I usually am; I felt my soul was dying.

Having grown up and lived in New York City for 41 years, a melting pot of 8 million people or so, New Mexico was a very different place to live than I was accustomed to – and I did not take well to it. I have not kept in touch with the vast majority of people I met there, and I’ve only been back once since “leaving Dodge” and that was solely to attend a conference. It’s a time of my life that I’ve simply not wanted to be reminded of.

But it seems that now that we are preparing to move to a smaller and more rural community, it is time for me to heal my New Mexico stint. There will be some similarities between where we relocate to in AZ and the places I lived in and people I met while living in NM. I want to build a joyful, full life in our new community, so it behooves me to heal my past and make peace with NM.
