The Director

“When you talk about what you want and why you want it, there's usually less resistance within you than when you talk about what you want and how you're going to get it. When you pose questions you don't have answers for, like how, where, when, who, it sets up a contradictory vibration that slows everything down.” - Abraham, Excerpted from the Saturday, 01.29.05, San Antonio, TX #448 workshop

In this vast universe of myriad possibilities, I cannot possibly figure out the ‘how’ of anything. In God’s kingdom, all things are possible.

So, I leave the ‘how’ up to Spirit, who has a Divine Plan and is running the show. I open myself up to God’s Will and Grace to receive what God wants, and let God handle the ‘how’ too.

“Help us to understand that You, Who knows the end from the beginning, are always in charge.” - Isabel Wolseley

God's Plan

“God guides us down the paths of life in mysterious and wonderful ways. We can’t know now how the events of this day might shape our tomorrow. But God does. From birth to death, God weaves the grand tapestry of our life. And it’s exciting to watch as His design works itself out with faith and great expectation.

Father, thank You for using whatever happens to me today to shape my future for good.

- Scott Walker (Excerpt from Daily Guideposts, January 11, 2010)

I don’t know God’s plan for me, i.e., why I was “re-activated” (see blog post of 1/07/10 and before) just as I don’t know why I got to the state that I was in before then. But I am sure there was a purpose behind it all - in all likelihood to be of service - and I am most grateful.

I look forward with wonderful expectancy for more to be revealed in God’s Divine Plan for me. I’m on the lookout for synchronistic occurrences, guidance from Spirit and Its helpers, and all the other ways that God’s messages get broadcast to lead me to my good.

Divine Plan

Daily Thoughts from Daily Guideposts Devotional January 4, 2010
A Time to Think
Let us move into the New Year with a great sense of the thrill of living. - Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

To Act
Trust that there is a divine plan.

To Pray
Lord, help me see through eyes that glimpse visions of Your plan for me. Then give me the courage to act.

I believe in the concept of a divine plan and I know I have a life purpose but haven’t been clear about it. Due to this unknowing and other reasons, I’ve not been all that thrilled with life here on planet Earth. With the divine spark within fanned, I feel an enthusiasm for life that hasn’t been with me for quite some time. And, I feel that my life purpose will be made quite clear to me this year.

I trust that there is a divine plan and I pray with confidence that it be revealed to me in the near future. I eagerly look forward to acting on that plan, and if it turns out to be something pretty far out and perhaps a bit scary, I pray to follow God’s guidance and have the courage to act.

Worry and God

If I truly believe in God, why should I worry about anything?

In Kathryn Slattery’s experience as a worrier, she realized, “Worrying gave me a false sense that I was "doing something" about a problem, when in fact I was actually wasting valuable mental energy and accomplishing nothing!” How very true. When I worry, first of all, my mind is preoccupied with the future which isn’t yet here. I’m not accomplishing anything by worrying - in fact, I am adversely impacting my physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.

Kathryn looked to the Bible, which has a lot to say on the topic. In Matthew’s gospel, Jesus says, “Do not worry. Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? So do not worry.” As Kathryn points out, it’s worth noting that the apostle Paul does not encourage us to “Worry without ceasing.” Instead, he writes, “Pray without ceasing.” Prayer is both the opposite and the antidote to worry. I cannot worry and pray at the same time, just like I cannot be in fear and faith simultaneously.

Kathryn has a friend, who when she finds herself worrying, uses it as a reminder of how much she needs God. On her nightstand she keeps a plaque that says, “Stop worrying and go to sleep. I’ll be up all night anyway. Love, God.” Yes, God is always up, always awake and present. And, God has the power to accomplish anything, unlike moi.

If I believe in a Higher Power - God - that is all loving, all good, all powerful, etc., why indeed am I worrying?

Dear Spirit of the Most High -
May I pray without ceasing, faithful in knowing that You have a Divine Plan and all is exactly as it should be. And so it is.

The Way Things Are

The way we think everything should and will happen just may not be according to God’s will of good for us. – Anonymous

There is no doubt that there have been numerous instances in my life in which I thought things should have happened in a certain way in order to be in my best interest. But more was revealed, and the way the situation unfolded turned out to be a blessing and clearly for my spiritual upliftment.

These days I’m really not clear why the unfoldment of my new life is happening the way it is, and I just want to get on with it! But I am grateful for the reminders that come my way via a person, a reading, etc. showing me that there is a Divine Plan, God is in charge, and all is unfolding perfectly.

I pray to keep surrendering to Spirit’s Plan and relax in the peace, love and joy of it.

Surrender - Again

“... turmoil... would disappear if we comfortably relied on God to take charge of our life every moment... willingness to let God have total charge of our life. If we do, we will know a new peacefulness – immediately.

I will let God be in total charge of my life today. I’ll not be controlled by fear. God will smooth my way.” – In God’s Care, October 26

Yesterday’s house hunting expedition in Sedona held many lessons. I had been praying my butt off, had friends praying for us, and I had signed up on about five prayer sites for strangers to pray for me. So what was the prayer I was asking help with? That we find and secure our perfect home in Sedona with ease and grace in a perfect way TODAY. I felt we had to find it TODAY, because I have a position starting in a week there and we’ve no place yet to call home.

We didn’t leave Sedona yesterday consciously having our new home, and maybe one of the ones we drove by is it. But it doesn’t matter.

I realized that I had once again been trying to control things, that I had expectations (not just expectancy) that set me up for disappointment, that my ego was having a grand ‘ol time. We’d done all the footwork and though I thought I’d been leaving the results up to Spirit, I wasn’t. Finally, when tired and frustrated, I had had it, and I hit bottom and surrendered. There I found peace, and I relaxed.

It was a painful reminder again of the need to really surrender and let God unfold His Divine Plan, to let God be in charge of my life, not just in this matter, but in everything. I am not in charge, my way doesn’t work. I can set my intention and express my desire, but ultimately God will work things out that are best for me. I must trust – and let go fully.

As we go house hunting again tomorrow, I go with expectancy and hope. But if we don’t secure the place, I know that’s God’s plan, that the time is just not right, that all the pieces are not quite in place - and I’m fine with that. Come next Monday, when my new position starts in Sedona, God will have worked out a perfect plan for me. I might not know what it is now, but God does. God has been preparing me beautifully along the way and will continue to do so. I surrender to God, my Creator, my Source.

Question Session

Rog and I are really feeling stuck. We simply do not know what God’s plan is for us. We go about our day with plenty of work of various sorts keeping us busy and fulfilled to varying degrees. But we know much of it is not our true work. Still, we don’t know for sure what Spirit would like us to be doing. And, we continue to be eager to move to a smaller, more rural community and start what we think to be our new life.

So last night together we sat in the Silence seeking answers from Spirit enveloped by soft candlelight, holding hands. Each time I awoke in the middle of the night, I had on my mind “Sprit, please tell me what You want, what Your plans are for me, for us...”

And, this morning, my alone time had me asking Spirit question-after-question about what Its Will for me and for us is. This is something I’ve not seemed to have done in a very long time. Usually I am easing the chatter for messages to come through or I’m sending messages out in a variety of modalities (prayer, affirmation). This time I was seeking a dialogue, you know, a là Neal Donald Walsch (of “Conversations with God” fame).

I got some replies back to my questions. I’m not sure if they came from Spirit or from Ego. I tend to think that they came from Spirit because I think Ego would have come up with some more appealing and dramatic ones.

At this time, I believe Spirit wants me to be patient, to continue growing closer to God, to increase my capacity to ask and then do Thy Will, not mine. It’s about surrender, it’s about trust. It’s about just Being and being in the Now.

I’ll keep on asking and talking with God, knowing that more will be revealed of the Divine Plan when the time is correct. For today, this rests well with me and I am at peace.

God Expectations

What are my expectations of God? I expect goodness and the best for my spiritual growth and upliftment. I expect God’s guidance, help, power, abundance, love, and grace.

So when circumstances appear to be less good than I think they should be and my ego starts moving into gear, I call a time out. I dwell on Spirit and look for the message Spirit is giving me and I seek to find the blessing in the situation. I remember that God has a divine plan and knows what It is doing. I relax into the peace of God.

Letting divine ideas fill my mind, I act on them with gratitude and enthusiasm, and my ego goes back to slumber mode once again. I’m in fit spiritual condition and fit for service to God. All is well.

Jubilant Spirit

“I value the wonderful qualities of children. As I watch a group of children absorbed in playful activity, I see that each child is intent on what he or she is doing, eager to learn and free from concern.

“Having this open, receptive, jubilant attitude is a perfect way for me to live my own life.“

- Today's Daily Word - Tuesday, May 12, 2009

Every day is a new beginning. After the signing of yesterday’s bankruptcy’s docs, I feel today is a BIG, new beginning. So how interesting to read this morning’s Daily Word (excerpted above) since I really was feeling “open, receptive, jubilant” to the myriad of possibilities on all fronts.

Soon afterwards, arriving emails revealed a number of possibilities regarding paid work. I got the go ahead from one client for a brief tech writing project, and two projects are a strong possibility with another. I also found out about a one-month assignment at a call center located nearby – and, they’re looking to hire a whopping 400 people! I suggested to Rog we both go to the job fair – it may not be about getting the job but meeting just the right person(s) we need to meet to move us forward in our life, a way for Spirit to introduce us to some new, old friends. Finally (for now), there seem to be some interesting part-time and telecommuting positions open up north where we plan to resettle.

Amid all this movement and excitment, it is important that I continue to be on the lookout for signs of God and His Guidance and note them as such too. We’ve got a lot ahead of us to address and I want to be as effective as possible with my time, and at peace too. There’s no doubt there’s a Divine Plan, but if I’m not open and receptive and mindful, I could miss the leads - and lose my jubilant attitude.

Thank You, Spirit, for my open, receptive, jubilant attitude.

A Part of the Divine Plan

Yippee – Rog is home!

We’ve both been very busy today, me here in the Phoenix area and he up north around Sedona. It’s not very often that we’re away from one another for such a length of time - 13.5 hours - and we get to missing one another after a few hours apart with little interaction.

It may sound co-dependent, and that’s true to some extent. But it’s more because we’re twin flames and life is so much more enjoyable in tandem.

And, it is in this twin flameness that I also feel more connected to Spirit. For Rog and I have such a love and a compatibility that our coming together clearly had to be part of the Divine Plan.

Thank You, Spirit, for bringing Rog home safely tonight, and for bringing us together 4+ years ago.
